Abstract:

To provide a water- and oil-resistant agent for paper little in foaming and excellent in product stability.

A water- and oil-resistant agent for paper includes: (I) a fluorine-containing copolymer that contains, as essential components, (a) a fluorine-containing monomer having a fluoroalkyl group represented by general formula: CH₂=C(-X)-C(=O)-Y-Z-Rf (1) [in the formula, X represents a hydrogen atom, a linear or a branched 1-21C alkyl group, a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom; Y represents -O- or -NH-; Z represents a 1-10C aliphatic group, a 6-10C aromatic group or a cycloaliphatic group; and Rf represents a linear or a branched 1-6C fluoroalkyl group], and (b) a repeating unit derived from a (meta) acrylate monomer having no fluorine atom; and (II) a polypropylene glycol compound (II).
