Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water paint composition for outer surface of a can which forms a coating having water resistance to endure a heat treatment process for sterilizing drink and food cans and excellent workability to various can shapes, and has a low content of org. solvents. SOLUTION: This composition comprises resin components, a) an α.βmonoethylene unsaturated carboxylic acid, 1-5C hydroxyalkylacrylate or methacrylate, and a water soluble acryl resin which is provided by solubilizing or dispersing a copolymer of a vinyl monomer copolymerizable with the above- mentioned monomer with a volatile base: 55-63 wt.%, b) a polyetherpolyol being an adduct of polyoxyalkylene bisphenol A having 300-1,600 mol.wt.: 7-15 wt.%, and c) an amineformaldehyde condensate : 30 wt.%.
