Abstract:
1. Process for the production of a high-voltage electrical cable insulation based on polyethylene homopolymers or copolymers which is resistant to the formation or growth of water trees, in which process silane compounds are grafted on to the base materials in the presence of peroxides, characterized in that the silane compounds used are those of a general formula R Si Y3 where R is a vinyl group and Y is an alkoxy group having less than 6 carbon atoms, and the silane compounds are grafted on to the base materials in an amount of from 0.2-10, preferably 1.0-3.0, % by weight before shaping of the high-voltage insulation, and in that 0.05-0.1 parts of peroxide, based on 100 parts of polymer material, are employed.
