To provide a water treatment method for efficiently electrolyzing treated water by utilizing ultrasonic vibration, and to provide a water treating apparatus therefor.
The water treating apparatus is provided with: an electrolytic reaction tank 10 equipped with an electrode 11 (an anode) and an electrode 12 (a cathode) arranged at a prescribed distance; and an ultrasonic device 13 for applying ultrasonic vibration to the treated water or electrodes in the electrolytic reaction tank 10. The treated water in an electrolysis reservoir 20 is electrolyzed by using the electrodes 11, 12. In this process, ultrasonic vibration is applied to the treated water by using the ultrasonic device 13 to promote a reaction to make the organic compounds in the treated water to compounds of lower molecular weight and thereby the organic compounds are efficiently electrolyzed. Further, when ultrasonic vibration is applied to the electrode, separation of air bubbles produced on an electrode surface is improved to increase an effective electrode surface area. Still further, the treated water on the electrode surface is quickly agitated and the mass transfer rate onto the electrode surface is made larger to greatly improve the efficiency of electrolysis.
