PURPOSE: To attain a water tree resistant function independent of a voltage stabilizing agent or a bulking agent and provide a water tree resistant composition capable of utilizing the desirable characteristic of polyethylene by keeping a related comonomer in contact with a specific catalyst in a polymerizing condition.
CONSTITUTION: This water tree resistant composition contains (A) at least two types of comonomers of ethylene and 1-butene of density approximately equal to or less than 0.905g/cm3, (B) the copolymer of at least two types of comonomers of ethylene and 1-hexene of density approximately equal to or less than 0.920g/cm3 or less, (C) the copolymer of A or B grafted by use of a hydrolytic vinyl silane compound or (D) a mixture of an arbitrary ratio of one of the copolymers defined in (A), (B) and (C). Also, the copolymer mentioned above is obtainable by keeping a related comonomer in contact with (I) a precursor containing Mg, Ti, halogen and an electron donator, together with a compound containing Al or (II) a catalyst containing V, halogen and an electron donator, an Al contained compound and low haloalkane compound, in a polymerizing condition.
