Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the direction and the position of a wave source without a scanning operation or to enhance a spatial resolution more than in conventional cases in a wave-motion receiving apparatus which receives the wave motion of sound waves (including ultrasonic waves and vibrations), electromagnetic waves (radio waves) or the like and in an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus as one application field of the wave-motion receiving apparatus.
SOLUTION: A receiver 10 by which a wave motion reaching an aperture (a) is received together with information on a position inside the aperture (a) is provided. A weighting and processing part 20 by which a received signal obtained by the receiver 10 is weighted and processed by a plurality of kinds of weighting functions using the position inside the aperture (a) as a variable is provided. A computing part 30 which performs a computing operation including a computing operation used to find the propagation direction of the wave motion reaching the aperture (a) or to find the position of a wave source generating the wave motion is provided.
