PURPOSE: To make the titled equalizer small in size, and also to improve its performance by using an adaptive loop circuit centering around one transversal filter whose processing speed is low, and the other transversal filter whose speed is high enough.
CONSTITUTION: A television signal containing a distortion, inputted to an input terminal 11 is converted to a digital signal by an A/D converter 1. An adder 2 derives a difference between an output of the converter 1 and a reference signal of a generating circuit 5 and fetches only a distortion component contained in the input signal. An adder 3, a tap coefficient correcting circuit 8 and a transversal filter 4 constitute an adaptive loop and operate so that an output of the adder 3 becomes the minimum. Also, a transversal filter 6 has the same tap coefficient as that of the filter 4, therefore, by inputting the reference signal of the circuit 5, the same one as the distortion portion contained in the input signal of the terminal 11 is obtained as an output of the filter 6. Accordingly, as for an output of an adder 7, the distortion component is negated, and the television signal which has completed an equalization is obtained and outputted from an output terminal 12.
