Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect the maximum value and the minimum value of a signal by an inexpensive constitution by setting the number of means for detecting the maximum value or the minimum value as (m) and setting the action speed of the detecting means as 1/m of the frequency of a sampling clock. CONSTITUTION:An analog/digital converter 23 converts the instantaneous magnitude of an analog signal into digital data in the cycle of the sampling clock and outputs it. A control clock 24 outputs a timing signal in the threefold cycle of the sampling clock, for example, to digital peak detectors 25-27, which detect the maximum value or the minimum value in the cycle of the signal and output it to a memory 29. The memory 29 stores the maximum value or the minimum value detected by the detector 25-27 according to an address from an address counter 28 and successively outputs it. A digital peak detector 30 detects the maximum value or the minimum value of the data successively read out from the memory 29 and outputs it to a display unit, etc. Therefore, 1/3 of the action speed of the converter is sufficient for the action speed of the detectors 25-27.
