Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a wavelength conversion element which curbs a variation in thermal resistance between a wavelength conversion layer and a peripheral member (base material) to achieve high wavelength conversion efficiency; a light source device mounted with the wavelength conversion element; and a projector mounted with the light source device.SOLUTION: A wavelength conversion element comprises: a wavelength conversion layer having a polygonal shape in planar view; and a peripheral member which has a plurality of base materials arranged on a periphery of the wavelength conversion layer in a manner that eliminates overlap with an incident direction of excitation light of the wavelength conversion layer. First side faces of respective base materials are brought into contact with second side faces of the wavelength conversion layer around the incident direction of the excitation light. Lengths of sides along the first side faces are longer than the same along the second side faces.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
