Abstract:
To provide a wavelength conversion element, a lighting unit, and a projector having high efficiency for light utilization.SOLUTION: A wavelength conversion element of the present invention comprises: a substrate; a reflection layer that is provided on the substrate; a wavelength conversion layer that is provided on the reflection layer and converts light in a first wavelength range into light in a second wavelength range different from the first wavelength range; a structure that is provided on the wavelength conversion layer and scatters part of the light in the first wavelength range; and an optical layer that is provided on the structure, reflects part of the light in the first wavelength range, transmits the other part of the light in the first wavelength range, and transmits the light in the second wavelength range. The structure includes a first structure part, a second structure part, and a flat part that is provided between the first structure part and the second structure part. The optical layers provided in the first structure part and the second structure part have a first reflectance to the light in the first wavelength range. The optical layer provided in the flat part has a second reflectance different from the first reflectance to the light in the first wavelength range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6B
