Title:
WAVELENGTH DIVISION SWITCH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3398540
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the required number of fixed wavelength converters by summing output signals from the fixed wavelength converters arranged for n-set each and giving the sum to one output link so as to control a selected wavelength of a prescribed variable wavelength filter.
SOLUTION: N-sets each of fixed wavelength converters C1-Ckn are arranged so as to provide the output of wavelength bands λ1-λn in common to an output link OL and to sum the output signals. Then output signals from k-sets of variable length filters F111Fkkn from each input link IL are summed. Similarly the variable length filters and the fixed wavelength converters are arranged and connected to all output links. Thus, all the variable length filters are set so as not to select an optical signal with any of the wavelength bands λ1-λn, but a wavelength multiplex input optical signal is switched to a desired output wavelength of a desired output link by controlling a selection wavelength of a prescribed variable length filter.
