To construct a wavelength multiplex transmission line which can select an arbitrary use waveband from the waveband as wide as possible among S-Band, C-Band, and L-Band.
The wavelength multiplex transmission line has a dispersion shift optical fiber 1 having positive wavelength dispersion in all the ranges of wavelengths of 1,460-1,630 nm, and a dispersion compensation transmission channel 5 provided with one kind of dispersion compensation optical fibers 2b, 3b and 4b having negative wavelength dispersion or two or more kinds of the dispersion compensation optical fibers 2b, 3b and 4b having different wavelength dispersions, in the compensation waveband selected from the wavelength of 1,460-1,630 nm. In the use waveband of the wavelength multiplex transmission line selected from the wavelength of 1,460-1,630 nm, the wavelength dispersion of the whole wavelength multiplex transmission line is adjusted so that it becomes -1.0 to 1.0 ps/nm/km.
