To obtain an excellent wear resistant member having improved wear resistance and shock resistance by depositing a composite material prepared by injecting a fused metal into a porous ceramic body on a contact surface of a main body comprising a high Cr cast steel.
A wear resistant member which is required to have high wear resistance at high temp. such as a grate used in a stoker-type incinerator is produced by laminating a composite material 5 on at least a part of a main body 1 comprising high Cr cast steel where another material is brought into contact. The composite material is produced by supplying a porous silicon carbide material 2 (SiC which is an example of a porous ceramic material) in a die, and casting a high Cr cast steel 4 having the compsn. of 1% Si, 0.5% C, 28% Cr, 0.2% N and the balance Fe into the pores 3 of the porous silicon carbide body 2 at 1600°C casting temp. under pressure. Thus the grate (an example of a wear resistant member) is obtd., and the obtd. member has a longer life for use.
