PURPOSE: To provide a weft brake for a shuttleless loom which is constituted to prevent the dust and fluff generated by weft threads and has self-cleanability.
CONSTITUTION: The weft brake consists of at least two brake devices 7 and 7' which are arranged in series in a traveling direction 8 of the weft threads 2 and operate by varying phases from each other. The respective brake devices 7 and 7' are formed of perpendicular arranged elastic blades 9 and 9' at least partly made of ferromagnetic material and flat support plates 13 and 13' made of nonmagnetic material. The weft threads 2 travel between both thereof and the elastic blades 9 and 9' are fixed at the points 10 and 10' of their ends nearer a feed bobbin 1 to a frame 6 and these elastic blades 9 and 9' are preloaded in a direction where the blades are pressed to their respective stop pins 12 apart from the support plates 13 and 13'. Further, the elastic blades 9 and 9' are adequately pressed to the support plates 13 and 13' by the attraction of at least one piece of electromagnets 14 and 14' freely adjustable in excitation.
