A weight frame for an elevator counterweight includes: a hinge 8 provided between a first vertical frame 6 and a second vertical frame 9, and moving the second vertical frame 9 located on an opening side for inserting and removing the weight in a direction of increasing the width dimension of the opening relative to the first vertical frame portion 6.
