PURPOSE: To provide an inclination adjusting method of the weight of a governor device for an elevator which can be easily executed by a single operator.

CONSTITUTION: A supporting member 15 constituted so as to have the length L nearly equal to the distance L1 between a weight 10 in the condition in which the weight has nearly same height to a bracket 11 and a main rail 5, and have a recessed part of the measure L2 capable of receiving a lower pulley 9, is provided between the weight 10 and the main rail 5, in the condition in which the weight 10 is rotationally moved around a supporting pin 13 as a supporting point up to the height position of the bracket 11. Thereafter, clip bolts 14 are loosened in this condition, the bracket 11 is moved downward along the main rail 5, the inclination of the weight 10 is adjusted, and then the clip bolts 14 are tightened again.
