Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of a crack in the circumferential direction for a long time and to hinder roughening in the top part of a bead by forming a smooth face in the top of a corrugated cladding layer of a weld cladding roll through machining and keeping the valley of the layer in the original weld surface.
SOLUTION: On a roll base material 1, a cladding layer 2 is formed that is provided with a corrugated cladding layer 10 having four corrugations with a cladding thickness of t=4.5 to 6.5 mm. Then, only the top of the cladding layer 2 is finished by grinding to form a flat top part 3, making the diameter of the roll top to be 336 mm. The roll depth d from the top to the bottom is 1.5-2.0 mm, the width w of the flat top part 3 is 11-13 mm, and the width bw of the bottom is 12-14 mm. With this roll used as a guide roll, a crack is generated preferentially on the bottom between beads, showing slight expansion of the crack in the circumferential direction. As a result, a large effect is demonstrated in controlling the cracking direction, preventing the generation of a crack in the circumferential direction. (The numeric values are one embodiment).
