PURPOSE: To facilitate welding of a base pipe and a branch pipe and to obtain the defectless result of welding by determining conditions for the angle of a welding torch, welding position and tracing of a groove line by the angle of the rotating position of the welding torch.
CONSTITUTION: A welding device body 8 is attached in the aperture of a branch pipe 2 intersected orthogonally with a base pipe 1 on the outside circumferential surface thereof, and a welding torch 4 is rotated around the axial center of the pipe 2. The positioning of the torch 2 in the axial center direction the pipe 2 is accomplished by tracing the groove line of the pipe 2. The torch 4 is positioned constant in the direction at a right angle to the axial center direction of the pipe 2 irrespectively of the angle of the rotating position thereof. The inclination of the torch 4 with respect to the axial center of the branch 2 is determined and controlled by the angle of the rotating position. The weld position is brought into a down or horizontal fillet welding position by rotating and oscillating the pipe 1.
