PURPOSE: To automatically seal up joints by a method in which a ring-like track is provided concentrically with tunnel for a moving machine in the shield tunnel, and a segment joint sealer is set on the track and movably joined with the moving machine.
CONSTITUTION: A shield tunnel 29 is formed by constructing many steel shell segments, and an axially moving machine 12 is provided. A pair of ring-shaped tracks 13 and 14 are provided concentrically with the tunnel 29 and fixed at a given interval axially. Welders 17 and 18 to weld the joint between the ring couplers of the steel shell segments are provided for the tracks 13 and 14 in a movable manner on the tracks 13 and 14. The joint between the segment couplers can thus be automatically and exactly weld-sealed up in a short time.
