A protective cover made of transparent or translucent resin in which a welding wire reel 1 around which a welding wire 4 is wound can be stored and which has cylindrical shape is provided. In the protective cover, an upper lid 12 and a body 13 surround the welding wire reel 1 and a wire opening part 19 feeding the welding wire 4 and arranged on the side of the body 13, and a pressing plate 15 at a different position from that of the wire opening part 19, a pressing plate cover 14, a coil spring 17, and a pressing plate holding lid 16 are provided to press the welding wire 4.
