Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Welsh onion nursing medium and a method for producing the medium. SOLUTION: In soil generated in a filtration plant, the water content is controlled to 40-60%, and further, the grain size is controlled so that the ratio of the soil passing a sieve of 2 mm opening is 40-60 vol.% and that passing a sieve of 4 mm opening and retaining on the sieve of 2 mm opening is 40-60 vol.% Into the soil, zeolite, a vegetable material, a slowly available nitrogenous fertilizer and a slowly available phosphatic fertilizer are added to obtain a medium suitable for nursing Welsh onion.
