Abstract:
To provide a new wheel device which is used for front and rear wheels of a carriage, front wheels of a wheelchair and the like and enables getting-over of an obstacle such as a step, and the carriage having the wheel device.SOLUTION: A wheel device 10 comprises: an attachment member 16; a mortar-shaped plate body 18 which is supported by the attachment member and has an oblong-shaped cross-sectional shape; a plurality of runners 20 and a plurality of auxiliary runners 22 which are supported in a movable manner in a peripheral direction by the plate body; and wheels 24 which are supported by the runners. The plate body includes two flat plate parts which extend in the peripheral direction along the peripheral surface of the mortar shape and two curved plate parts which are continuous to both flat plate parts. Both flat plate parts are at upper and lower height positions with respect to a travel path surface of the wheel device and are vertical and parallel to the travel path surface. The wheels 24 are placed in a parallel state with respect to the travel path surface when the runners supporting the wheels are located on the flat plate part 18a at the upper position, and are placed in a standing state with respect to the travel path surface when the runners are located on the flat plate part 18b at the lower position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
