Title:
WICK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS57120015
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To maintain stable combustion state at all times capable of quickly spreading flames and to make smooth reignition by a method wherein a main wick and an auxiliary wick for spreading flames are isolated by the material incapable of permeating fuel and the lowest edge of the auxiliary wick is located on the oil surface during combustion.

CONSTITUTION: The upper part of the main wick 1 including a fuel evaporating zone is formed by, for example, silica alumina porous material 4 containing a large amount of oil in order to restrict the reduction of combustion due to the production of tar and the fuel sucking zone at the lower part is composd of cotton 5 and polypropylene 6. On the other hand the auxiliary wick 2 comprises an upper flame spreading zone 7 and a lower fuel sucking zone 8. At this time insulating material 3 like aluminum foil etc. having a certain heat insulation effect is provided in order to prevent the fuel from moving from the main wick 1 to the auxiliary wick 2. The material of said auxiliary wick is regulated in thickness, in height, in quality so that the fuel is sucked upto the ignition position at least within three minutes after the extinction and the lowest end is kept far from the oil surface during combustion.
