PURPOSE: To provide a self-standing plastic bottle formed by a blow molding and for use in storing pressurized content such as carbonated beverage or the like in which it has a superior mechanical stability while an amount of resin required for molding operation is being restricted to a minimum amount.

CONSTITUTION: A base section 26 which is integral with a side wail 24 has a plurality of arcuate downward projections 28 separated by a semi-spherical portion 30. Each of the downward projections is comprised of a first slant portion 40 at the inner central part, a second slant portion 42 axially extending in a downward direction outside the first one, and a substantial annular portion 44 connecting these slant portions. A mounted bottle 10 is contacted with a floor surface at the axial lower-most end 34 of a curved portion 36 positioned between the second slant portion 42 and the side wall 24.
