A wind power generation apparatus 1, including: a windmill rotor hub 11 that is rotated by wind power; a fixed speed type induction generator 13 driven by the rotation of the windmill rotor hub 11; and a brake 20 that brakes the rotation of the windmill rotor hub 11 and that is interconnected with the power system 15, includes a control section 18 that determines that a low voltage event has occurred when a voltage of the power system 15 is smaller than a first threshold value and controls the brake 20 to obtain a rotational speed between a synchronous speed and a rotational speed of an induction generator 13 that obtains a rated output.
