PURPOSE: To shorten the tact time by a method wherein another hook which is different from a hook used to insert a wire material into and pass it through an insertion and passing part of a workpiece is installed and an end of the wire material is passed through an opening for guide use or a guide groove by using another hook.

CONSTITUTION: In a winding machine where a wire material is inserted into and passed through an insertion and passing part composed of a small hole in a head core of, e.g. a video head by using a fish-hook-like hook and is wound, a hook 18 which is different from books 14, 15 used to insert the wire material 16 into an pass it through an insertion and passing part of a workpiece is installed, and an end of the wire material 16 is passed through an opening 19 for guide use or a guide groove by using the hook 18. Thereby, an intermediate treatment is not required until the end of the wire material is moved to the opening 19 for guide use or the guide groove from a winding position of the insertion and passing part of the workpiece, the end of the wire material can be passed directly through the opening 19 for guide use or the guide groove; reliability can be enhanced and the tact time can be shortened.
