Abstract:
The present invention relates to a wind rotor brake system for a wind turbine, and to a method for operating a wind rotor brake system, where said wind turbine comprises at least a tower, a nacelle at said tower and a wind rotor installed at said nacelle, said wind rotor comprising any number of blades, preferably two or three blades, and an interface, e.g. at a rotor hub, for fastening said wind rotor rotatable to said nacelle, where said interface between the wind rotor and the nacelle comprises at least one bearing arrangement connected to a mainframe structure at said nacelle, and rigidly connected to said wind rotor for rotatable support of said wind rotor and for transfer of loads from the weight of the wind rotor and from the wind load on the wind rotor, where said wind rotor further comprises a main shaft for transferring rotational torque, generated by the wind on said wind rotor, to a generator, where said wind rotor brake system further comprises a brake disc and one or more brake callipers.
