To provide a windshield wiper device for securely preventing a backlash between a wiper arm and a wiper blade.

The windshield wiper device is provided with the wiper arm 9 including a retainer 18 in a U shape in cross section, having a pair of opposite side walls 20, 20, and an upper wall 21 for connecting the side walls, and a rivet 28 bridging over the pair of the side walls 20, 20, and the wiper blade 10 including a clip 17 engaging with the rivet 28 formed on an inner side of a primary lever 12 with a pair of side walls 29, 29 formed so as to contact with the pair of the side walls 20, 20 from an inner side. Cutouts 31, 31 for inserting the rivet 28 from upward are formed on the side walls 29, 29. The clip 17 is engaged with the rivet 28 inserted in the cutouts 31, 31 to lock.
