Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a wiping cloth, causing an extremely small amount of dust, having a high level of wiping off properties without any fear of dielectric breakdown and suitable for a precision mechanical equipment or a clean room by using a knitted or a woven fabric containing ultrafine fibers.
SOLUTION: This wiping cloth comprises a knitted or a woven fabric composed of ultrafine fibers having ≤0.1 denier single filament size without substantially containing a hydrophilic or a hydrophobic substance in the knitted or woven fabric. The wiping cloth is obtained by using a polyester filament yarn containing ≥30wt.% polyester ultrafine fiber filaments having ≤0.1 denier single filament size and highly shrinkable polyester filaments having a larger single filament size than that of the ultrafine fiber filaments, weaving or knitting the knitted or woven fabric having the surface selectively formed of ultrafine fibers, then carrying out the heat treatment such as scouring or dyeing and finishing, and subsequently performing water jet punching treatment under 30-120kgf/cm2 pressure with filtered water. The resultant wiping cloth does not substantially contain a hydrophilic or a hydrophobic substance such as in an amount of ≤0.5 wt.%, preferably ≤0.1wt.%, causes dusts having ≥5μm particle diameter in an amount of ≤10 dusts/ft3 100cm2 according to JIS B-9923 (a shaking method) and has ≤1sec water absorption rate according to JIS L-1096 and ≥200wt.% water absorption amount.
