To provide a wire control device and a wire control method for controlling a theft preventing wire to reliably protect confidential information in a device.

A confidential information auditing section 65 audits whether confidential information is stored in the device, and only when no confidential information is stored, a transmitting-receiving section 62 transmits a request for lock release of a connection part between an USB plug 13 of the theft preventing wire 10 and a USB port of a laptop computer 30 to a control section 50 of a key part 12 of the theft preventing wire 10. When confidential information is stored, the request for lock release is not transmitted. The laptop computer 30 containing confidential information is not thereby detached from the theft preventing wire 10, and confidential information in the device can be reliably protected.
