PURPOSE: To cut and remove a wire tightly around a compressing bale without producing any damage to the bale.
CONSTITUTION: A roller conveyor 10 may support a bale at a cutting and removal station 12. A compressor 14 slightly compresses the bale. A blade 28 with a surface pushing the bale against a wire cutting channel 26 and projecting to a bottom surface of the bale to form a groove is moved transversely in an orthogonal manner and then the wire is captured into a recess of the blade. The blade is moved subsequently and then the wire is abutted against the rear wall of the recess and pulled until the wire exceeds its tensile strength and breaks. Then, the bale is lifted up and the wire removal blade 34 is moved across the top part of the bale in an orthogonal manner. The removal blade 34 has a slant surface to push the bale downwardly while the wire is caught in the recess of the blade. The blade is moved across the bale to catch all the wires and remove them from the bale.
