To provide an elevator wire rope device whose tensile force can be regulated simply and in a short time in spite of a plurality of wire ropes extended over between an elevator cage and a balancing weight.

The wire rope device 12 of a dumb waiter DW is equipped with one wire rope 18 fixed to the elevator cage 11 at both its ends and a wire rope supporting mechanism 19 which is attached to a balance weight 13 and turnedly supports wire rope 18. The wire rope 18 is turned up through the suspended wheel of the wire rope supporting mechanism 19, and extended over between the elevator cage 11 and the balance weight 13 at plural times. The tensile force of the wire rope can be automatically regulated by the rotation of the suspended wheel.
