To provide a wireless communication system that prevents deterioration in communication quality due to multipath.
The wireless communication system includes a first communication device comprising a signal power detecting means for detecting a basic wave power and a noise power of received signals by Fourier transform processing, a multipath determining means for determining a magnitude of the multipath effect based on the basic wave power and noise power, a communication switching instruction transmitting means for transmitting a multicarrier communication switching instruction or a single carrier communication switching instruction based on the determination results by the multipath determining means, a first communication switching means for switching communication with a second communication device to a multicarrier communication or a single carrier communication based on the switching instruction, and a second communication device comprising a second communication switching means which switches the communication to the multicarrier communication when the multicarrier communication switching instruction is received and which switches the communication to the single carrier communication when the single carrier communication switching instruction is received.
