To configure a multichannel autonomous distributed wireless network efficiently in which a communication station does not provide an unnecessary transmission stop period.
A communication station makes a decision whether the beacon transmission channel of a next adjacent station matches the scheduled transmission channel of its own station or not by viewing the information on neighboring stations described in a beacon received from an adjacent station. When these channels match each other, transmission is prolonged by providing a transmission stop period for the next adjacent station. Consequently, disturbance is avoided in receiving a beacon from a station next to the adjacent station and since unnecessary transmission stop period is not required, throughput is enhanced.
