Title:
WOOD BAT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003144593
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a wood bat which secures the safety thereof when broken without changing the characteristics of the wood bat.

The wood bat 1 has a ball hitting part 2, a grip part 3, a shaft part and a grip end part 5. A through hole is bored through the inside of the wood bat 1 to the grip end 5 from the ball hitting part 2 and a flexible linear material 7 is inserted through the through hole 6. Recessed parts 6a and 6b are formed with an enlarged diameter of the through-hole 6 at the upper end part of the ball hitting part 2 and the grip end 5 and spherical retaining parts 7a and 7b formed by melting the end part of the linear material 7 are retained separately. When the bat is broken with the hitting of balls, the retaining parts 7a and 7b are retained with the recessed parts 7a and 7b to prevent the separation of the wood bat 1 so that broken tip pieces of the bat will not fly away thereby securing the safety of the wood bat 1. The linear material 7 bends to match the warping of the wood bat 1 thereby keeping the characteristics of the bat unchanged.
