PURPOSE: To mount/dismount a clamp automatically thus to achieve continuous welding work by providing a work clamp unit advancable/retractable in perpendicular direction with the carrying path to hold/release the end of work on a truck travelable in parallel with the work carrying path.
CONSTITUTION: A shift cylinder 27 is pulled to move a shift frame 20 to the work 11 side. Here, the clamp roller 31 of lower clamp arm 25 in the shift frame 20 will climb to the top of an inclined liner 26 on the surface of a travel truck 15 while at the sametime a clamp roller 31 will push up and fix the lower face of a plate 13. Upon pulling of a clamping cylinder 21, an upper clamp arm 23 will rotate around a shaft 24 and the tip of said arm 23 will push the upper face of the plate 13 thus to hold said plate 13 from above and below. When removing the upper and lower clamp arms 23, 25 from the plate 13, respective clamp cylinder 21 and shift cylinder 27 are pushed. Consequently, the clamp will never pause during mount and dismount.
