Abstract:
PURPOSE: To shorten time spent for the independent advance of a tailstock center so as to shorten cycle time by providing a controller to synchronously execute the one step advance of the tailstock center and the advance of a spindle center and to continuously execute the two step advance of the tailstock center.
CONSTITUTION: First, a moving forward and backward driving device for a spindle ram 10 makes a spindle center 7 advance just before it abuts on a work 3. A moving forward and backward driving device for a tailstock ram 19 synchronously makes a tailstock center 18 execute one step advance just before it abuts on the Work 3. After the advance of the spindle center 7, the moving forward and backward driving device for a tailstock ram 19 makes the tailstock center execute two step advance to sandwichedly hold the work between the spindle center and itself. Next, the spindle center is moved forward and backward with the work supported in the above state to longitudinally position the work. Next a rotary device rotating drives the work for driving the positionedly supported work. After grinding process, the tailstock center is moved backward, and the spindle center is then moved backward.
