PURPOSE: To obtain a machine by which a metallic rod or tube is continuously reduced in cross-section and worked into a desired shape.
CONSTITUTION: The machine is provided with a mechanism 6, which holds and thrusts a base material 1 in a die 2 by a pair of connecting shoes 7a, 7b, and also a drawing mechanism 14 which, after clamping the base material 1 passed through the die 2, moving for a specified distance and releasing the material 1, returns to its original position and repeats the same operation. In imparting the thrusting and drawing simultaneously to the base material 1, the drawing force is controlled to the preliminarily decided specific value that is 0.2 time to 1.0 time of the yield load of the work-finished material, the drawing mechanism 14 is provided with a through-throat for the base material as well as a chuck for fully holding the working material on the inside circumferential surface, and the drawing force is imparted to the metallic rod 1. Thus, not only a large reduction working is easily performed on a base material, but also the pointing part is made short, and the time for exchanging the material is reduced.
