PURPOSE: To form a fine hole for optical fiber element wire insertion in the center of an end surface of a ferrule body with high precision and high efficiency by exposing the center of the end ferrule surface where positive type resist is applied and forming a hollow for drilling.
CONSTITUTION: The ferrule body 1 uses a member 2 which can be etched as its end-surface small-hole worked part for optical fiber element wire insertion, and the positive type resist 3 is arranged on the end surface of the ferrule body 1; and a holder 4 which has external-diameter precision equal to that of the ferrule body 1 and has a light guide part 6 smaller in diameter than an optical fiber element wire is opposed to the ferrule body 1 across an arraying jig 5. Then, the end surface is irradiated with light through the light guide part 6 of the holder 4 and also developed to remove the resist from the exposed part, and an etching treatment is carried out to form a recess in the center of the end surface of the ferrule body 1. Then, the extremely-small hole for optical fiber element wire insertion is drilled in this recess part.
