Abstract:

To provide a small thin curvature-operating, hardness-adjusting member, and to provide an endoscope using the member.

This woven fabric structure is characterized by having a fabric-like member 10 in which elastic members 11 capable of controlling hardness and elasticity in response to supplied electric currents are woven as weaving yarns, and having an electrode member 12 for supplying the electric currents to the weaving yarns of elastic members 11 at both the ends of the fabric-like member 10. The endoscope is characterized by disposing a curvature-controlling portion 21 formed of the woven fabric structure and a hardness-controlling portion 22 in the insertion portion of the endoscope, and disposing a control portion 24 for controlling electric currents supplied to the curvature-controlling portion 21 and the hardness-controlling portion 22 in an endoscope-operating portion.
