To obtain a woven or knitted fabric free from a waxy touch, having excellent recoverability, bulkiness and soft touch and suitable for clothes and the like by weaving specific spun-like yarns in the warp direction and/or the like.
This woven or knitted fabric is obtained by weaving or knitting spun- like yarns in the warp direction and/or in the weft direction, dyeing the woven or knitted fabric and subsequently subjecting the dyed fabric to a finishing processing treatment. Polyester yarns are arranged in loop-like shapes on the surfaces of the woven or knitted fabric, and have elastic recoverability. It is preferable that the difference (ΔL) between the lengths of core and sheath yarns is expressed by the inequality: 2%≤ΔL≤15%. The spun-like yarns comprise the sheath yarns and the core yarns. The sheath yarns comprise polyester yarns having a dry heat shrinkage percent (SHD) of ≤0% at 160°C and a single filament fineness of ≤5 denier. The core yarns comprise elastic polyester yarns such as polypropylene terephthalate yarns or polybutylene terephthalate yarns and have a dry heat SHD of ≤30% at 160°C and a single filament fineness of ≤10 denier. The difference (ΔSHD) between the dry heat shrinkage percents of the core and sheath yarns at 160°C is expressed by the inequation: 5%≤ΔSHD≤30%.
