To facilitate the loading of the pencil lead insert part 18 into a lead case 30, a loading tube 36 fixed axially in the second half portion of the housing 12 is inserted into an opened rear terminal end of the lead case 30 and can be moved while sliding. Accordingly, with respect to an opened rear terminal end of the loading tube 36, the lead of the pencil can be loaded from the rear at any time even at a stationary position of the pencil lead insert part 18 or even at a writing position when the second half portion of the housing is opened.
