To provide a yarn unwinding assist device which can effectively suppress generation of sloughing and increase of unwinding tensile force.SOLUTION: A yarn unwinding assist device 20 assists unwinding of a yarn Y from a yarn feeding bobbin SB. The yarn unwinding assist device 20 includes a guide cylinder 50 arranged to cover a core tube of the yarn feeding bobbin SB. On an inner peripheral surface of the guide cylinder 50, a high friction material layer is provided which has a dynamic friction coefficient of 0.3 or more and 0.5 or less with respect to a cotton yarn.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
