A winder unit 10 includes: a winding unit body 16 for forming a package 30 by winding thread 20; a needle thread catching member 26 for catching thread of the package 30 side by suctioning to guide the thread; and a unit controller 50 for controlling the needle thread catching member 26 so that the needle thread catching member 26 performs catching operation for catching the thread of the package 30 side by suctioning in a catching area R1, waiting operation for waiting at a waiting area R2 separated from the package 30 farther than the catching area R1, and guiding operation for guiding the thread to a thread piecing area R3 and for adjusting the waiting operation depending on a diameter of the package 30 and/or length of a defect of the thread.
