Title:
ZINC-CHLORINE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60258871
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent any zind dendrite from depositing in the lower part of the zinc plate of a zinc-chlorine battery of the bipolar type by providing, in addition to the main electrolyte flow path, a sub flow path which directly reaches the lower part of the interelectrode part without permeating the chlorine plate.

CONSTITUTION: A zinc plate 2 made of hard graphite and a chlorine plate 3 made of porous graphite are installed facing each other in a frame body to form an interelectrode part 4. And, electrolyte 6 is supplied through a supply path 7 into a back space 5 before being discharged through a discharge path 8, thereby constituting a zinc-chlorine battery of the bipolar type. In addition to a main electrolyte flow path (A) which extends from the back space 5 to the interelectrode part 4 through the chlorine plate 3, this battery has a sub flow path (B) which directly reaches the lower part of the interelectrode part 4 through a porous body 10. Therefore a great amount of the electrolyte 6 can be supplied to the lower part of the zinc plate 2. Consequently, it is possible to prevent any deterioration of battery performance by preventing zinc dendrite from depositing in the lower part of the zinc plate 2.
