To realize saving of a cost and of a space by performing each treatment of a heating, a dezincing in vacuum, and a melting, in charging material containing zinc into a metal melting furnace.
The material V (scrap or metallic dust or mixture thereof) containing the zinc is charged into the metal melting furnace 1 through an upper opening part 1a and the material charged into the melting furnace 1 is preheated and excess components of oil content are extruded. Thereafter, the metal melting furnace 1 is evacuated and also, heated to sublimate the zinc. This zinc is directly solidified from gas-phase state and recovered as the metallic zinc at the out of the metal melting furnace 1. After recovering the zinc, the material in the metal melting furnace 1 is further heated till molten steel tapping temperature, and the molten steel is tapped off from the metal melting furnace 1.
