Abstract:
To provide a new acoustic shield for a window.SOLUTION: Acoustic shields 1, 30, 40 for a window according to the present invention include one or more acoustic cavity modules 5, 33, 52 that can be arranged in at least a portion of an aperture of the window. Each module provides at least one resonance aperture 8 for reducing overall sound pressure level of sound waves passing through the resonance aperture while also allowing airflow to pass through, and the acoustic cavity module includes a plurality of plates 7, 35, 54, 60, 62, 64 aligned in a substantially parallel and adjacent configuration so that the resonance cavities are defined between respective pairs of plates. Each plate has at least one of apertures 9, 37, 39, 55, and the apertures in each plate provide the resonant aperture 8 of the module. Each acoustic cavity module is designed to capture noise frequencies between 800 and 1,600 Hz.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
