Title:
MANUFACTURE OF FINE DIAMETER WIRE ROD OF HIGH CARBON MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH067831
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To restrain the decrease of such mechanical properties as strength, ductility by hot-rolling high carbon martensitic stainless steel stock, then, drawing it through a die below a specific working rate.

CONSTITUTION: This stock is hot-rolled from 5.5mm diameter to about 3.2mm, then, it is drawn through the die at ≤15% working rate and hot rolling is performed at least at ≥900°C directly before wire drawing by the die. Since hot rolling is performed at such a high temperature in this way, the workability of material matrix is greatly improved and the generation of micro-defects in a precipitation carbide is restrained. Further, when a tension between stands is regulated to ≤10%, tensile deformation is restrained and, similarly, the generation of the micro-defects is restrained.
