PURPOSE: To provide a device for taking out the plate members one by one in succession smoothly, easily and surely in separation from among the relatively heavy plate members in stacked state such as the press-molded articles for rear axle housing for an automobile.

CONSTITUTION: The first and second separating devices 24 and 26 are arranged on both the sides of the supeposed plate members 16, and the first and second laterally movable actuators 74 and 116 for shifting the plare member at the uppermost edge in the laterel direction are installed on both the separating devices 24 and 26, and the first and second vertically movable actuators 92 and 132 for pushing up the plate member upwardly are installed. The plate member at the uppermost edge among the superposed plate members 16 is lifted up and separated by the cooperations of the first and laterally moable actuators 74 and 116 and the first and second vertically movable actuators 92 and 132.
