Abstract:
To provide a compass provided with a writing instrument storage mechanism capable of putting together a compass to a smaller size in a state of holding the writing instrument on the compass to protect a tip part of the writing instrument and a needle of a central leg at the same time in placing temporarily the compass on a desk while holding the writing instrument in the course of a drawing work.SOLUTION: The compass comprises a central leg 10 having a needle 12 at a tip, a writing instrument holder 40 for holding a writing instrument 50, a rotary leg 20 for rotating the writing instrument holder 40 around the central leg 10, and an operation body 30 for pivotally supporting the rotary leg 20 and the central leg 10 so as to be freely openable and closable. The rotary leg 20 includes a rotary leg body 21, the writing instrument holder 40 disposed at a tip of the rotary leg body 21, and a writing instrument storage mechanism for storing a tip part 51 of the writing instrument 50 held by the writing instrument holder 40 into the rotary leg body 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
